Future Projects

I’ve started work on a 2010 campaign website that is still in stealth mode with an anticipated launch date of January, 2009. I’m having fun looking at active campaign sites, as well as other media like CNN and even The Colbert Report. It’s tough to balance the ideas of patriotism and politics with integrity, honesty and gravitas without ending up with something bombastic. TV graphics are, by nature, completely over the top, and I’ve noticed that influence in most of the campaign sites I’ve been reviewing. Err on the side of subtlety and restraint, however, and you end up with something rather anemic.

It will be an interesting journey.

Area51.org

The second job of the summer was an overhaul of a pet project, Area51.org. The paranormal blog is now adding a news aggregator, so I worked with the development team to design a single-page site that would work with the existing blog. The blog site uses the Dapit Hapon WordPress theme by Gail Dela Cruz. I took the background from that theme and designed something around it.

I wanted to have the site loosely look like the desk of a paranormal investigator, with a slight Indiana Jones retro feel. Hopefully I captured that sense of wonder with a tinge of nostalgia. The site is still evolving, so a few design elements haven’t gone out yet. Can’t wait to see the final product.

Khloro Management Group

I’ve actually been so caught up in projects that I haven’t had a chance to update this site in quite some time. Summer has flown by, and with it came many new challenges that I’ve greatly enjoyed. I kicked off the summer with a quick-and-dirty project for a stealth-mode start-up, Khloro Management Group. They needed a simple, stripped-down web presence in less than a week. With a logo and some copy as a starting point, I whipped together a skeletal site in time for an important presentation.

The site is still active and has been serving its purpose. I’m looking forward to see where the company goes from here and am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the team at such an early phase.
